Comm 300: Commercials

I'm watching television the other day, which is a lot of what I do. Boar's Head has a new commercial for it's Everroast Chicken breast, which is said to be better than grandma's. This commercial is interesting because it is the first commercial in a long long time, that I've seen with a black person in it. There is a black grandmother kind of off to the side in this commercial, and though she doesn't have any lines to say, she's there. I think it's great that she's in there, I just wish that there were more minorities in commercials. I can't even think of a commercial that has a Hispanic person in it, or a Chinese person in it.

Comm 229: Narrative

So, I've been thinking about Chapter two that we had to read for last week. And about the different narratives that occur within different medias. What I'm interested in are the new commercials that are coming out which are telling their own narratives. You know the ones I'm talking about, like the Quizno's commercials.
The first one takes place in the store and the worker is being spoken to by the toaster. " Put it in me Brian.." Then of course, that motif goes on for awhile. Now, Brian is at a psychiatrists because the toaster doesn't actually talk.
I just think it's kind of neat that these commercials are getting us into the stories of the people who are in them. I really really like the Twix commercials with the guy and the girl.
here is the first one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQJ2SegGWyc
I still haven't figured out how to get videos on here... any help would be great.
