Comm 229: Observe and Report

First off, let me tell you that this movie blows. Truly you don't want to waste your money on it. Unfortunately, I watched the whole thing last night, but I figured I wouldn't let this horrid experience go to waste.
A couple of chapters ago our book was discussing how visual and audio clues will inform you as to what type of movie you are going to see. Every single commercial I saw for this movie showed it as being a comedic movie about a mall cop, who terrorizes the citizens. They lied. This movie was not funny at all, and it was more a look into the life of an average citizen who does the same job over and over again, who is being pushed around by the system.
Now, why would we think this is a comedy???? SETH ROGAN. They chose him for this role, and we all assumed that he would be doing another funny movie. Horrible misconception. What is interesting though is for the 'bad cop' they chose the actor from the 'Goodfella's'. Though, he wasn't very mafia like in this movie, he was definately a bad ass.

  1. Really, i heard this movie was supposed to be funny. I know what you mean about the seth rogan thing. Just because you put an actor who has had some success in other films, does not mean you can just stick him in anything and it will automatically be a hit. its like the yankees buying all of these superstar players and theres absolutely no chemistry. Or its like will smith, they think any movie they put him in will be a SUPER movie, but actually not. HANCOCK BLOWS. No pun intended...
